The Playhouse on Rodney Square Customers Reviews
Funny, but No Drinks in the Theatre?
At this point I don't think David Sedaris needs my review to help sell tickets. Really funny even though we didn't know what to expect. He read mostly unpublished material, ad libbed a bit then allowed some Q&A time. I enjoyed the evening enough. I certainly don't mind supporting an author who can also make his material interesting on stage.
I bought these tickets for my partner's birthday and she and I were kind of shocked when we were told at the bar in the venue there were "no drinks in the theater by request of the performer". I've been to every kind of act conceivable and never had this happen before. I'm sure Sedaris has his reasons. You know that fancy wine & cheese, NPR crowd gets so rowdy when you let them drink ;p
We just ended up not buying drinks. I'm not going to chug an $8 vodka tonic. Bummer for the venue's revenue that night.
